Our politicians talk about harnessing the Fourth Industrial Revolution - wherein people could, literally, be merging with machines, and all machines will be connected to each other. Meanwhile, most of our people don't even know what an industrial revolution is, or why/how it was revolutionary! Thankfully, the cybertools/world laid out by the Third Industrial Revolutionaries are almost purpose-built for assisting human learning of everything!
Learning to build apps/websites takes days for almost any graduate-level student from any faculty (speaking from experience here, guys). Local(Free)ly-made Apps can then teach almost any skill/knowledge to almost level of student/trainee, without a teacher. Despite having no constant supervisor, these students can often get meaningful "supervision"/feedback from software. Human teachers would be better, of course, but in the short term, in the South African context at least, there'll be teacher shortages. This is just one option of alleviating the burden more rapidly.
And apps won't just massively improve education, but industry too. We can build apps that build skills needed for building buildings! In other words, a prospective "Freeconomic citizen" travelling from their city to where the job is, can become a builder (or almost anything, really) on the way to the construction site just by watching some videos, and playing some "games" that simulate working conditions, and give you a feel of what's required to do the job well! And the idea of getting speed/performance bonuses in the game, will be replicated in the real world! Work harder and/or smarter, and faster, and you will get rewarded accordingly.
Once again, it's not education, and industry that can be empowered/improved by apps. Since knowledge is power, our people will become some of the most formidable, lifelong learners The world of accumulated knowledge is already (almost) freely available to everyone - carefully created, curated content communicated via the most convenient carryable, and it's virtually BEGGING to be utilised. Often being provided by people with the noblest of goals, such as enlightening/freeing humanity from mental malnutrition.
Imagine a world in which people work so efficiently (with robots) that we'll solve most of society's problems and fulfil so many of it's needs so abundantly that the requirement for human "labour" in the traditional (manual) sense will disappear!
"Oh, no! What will we do when we don't need to do anything? Won't people become professional potatoes?"
I get your concern, so how about this: In that future, if people want points/currency over and above the amount they need to live, they won't need to work for it, they'll need to learn for it. That's right, your average Freeconomic citizen might reach levels of enlightenment on par with philosopher kings! Like, poverty, hunger, homelessness, and most crime, ignorance can be forgotten.
